“House” Actress Joins “How I Met Your Mother” As Important Character

There is no guarantee she will be the titular ‘mother,’ but former “House” actress Jennifer Morrison will play a key role in the upcoming sixth season of “How I Met Your Mother.”

Morrison will appear for at least five episodes–and possibly as many as thirteen–as Zooey, an activist who is trying to prevent a landmark building from being torn down in favor of a project that Ted Mosby, the architect lead character, is designing.

Creator Craig Thomas told Entertainment Weekly that Zooey is “the biggest female character we’ve maybe ever added to the show in Ted’s life…This is a big arc—a huge arc. It’s going to be a little less date-of-the-week for Ted, which season 5 was.”

In recent interviews, Thomas and co-creator Carter Bays have pushed the idea that season six will return focus to the the “hunt for the mother” angle that was largely overshadowed in season five by the Barney-Robin relationship as well as traditional “sitcom antics” involving the five central characters.
