FOX Readying “American Country Awards” Show For December

With crossover talent like Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Lady Antebellum ranking as some of the hottest acts in music, country remains one of the most bankable genres–and the accompanying awards shows tend to produce big viewer counts for television networks.

That reality explains why FOX is planning to get into the country music awards game; a late Sunday report in THR says that FOX is preparing to announce the “American Country Awards” for a debut this December.

Set to air December 6, the two-hour telecast will feature fan-voted awards announcements and most certainly live performances from the genre’s big stars.
