Rihanna Playing “Battleship” In New Movie

Variety reported Monday that pop star Rihanna has been cast in the upcoming feature film adaptation of board game “Battleship.”

Set for a May 2012 release, “Battleship” takes place “across the seas, the skies and over land” as a battle is led to protect the planet against a superior force. Taylor Kitsch (“Friday Night Lights”) leads the charge as a Naval officer, while Alexander Skarsgard plays his brother.

Under director Peter Berg, the film will begin shooting shortly.
