UFC Goes After Pirated Online PPV Streams; Dana White Promises Victory

Ultimate Fighting Championship announced Friday that it has served subpoenas to Justin.tv and Ustream.tv as part of its latest effort to crackdown on pay-per-view piracy.

Over the past few years, numerous users on the two websites have uploaded unauthorized streams of UFC’s pay-per-view events, and the fighting promotion is hoping to receive their IP addresses from the two websites. “With this information in hand, Zuffa will prosecute civil actions against the individuals who have infringed Zuffa’s copyrights,” Zuffa, UFC’s parent company, announced in a press release.

According to the release, more than 36,000 people watched a single stream for UFC 108. For UFC 110, more than 78,000 people watched a collective of streams uploaded by a single user.

“I can’t wait to go after the thieves that are stealing our content,” said UFC President Dana White. “This is a fight we will not lose.”
