Chris Jericho: “Downfall” Not Canceled, More Episodes Planned

Although an ABC press release, which confirmed that “Downfall” would conclude its season one episode shy of its six-episode production order, suggested the game show had been cancelled, host Chris Jericho refutes the claim that the show’s run is over.

According to Jericho, once final edits were made, the show moved through its slate of contestants too quickly and thus did not have enough material to broadcast a sixth episode. So next week’s airing, which ABC has billed as the season finale, is indeed the final episode that was filmed.

He further noted, “We’re gonna film more episodes in the fall,” on his Twitter, although there has been no official statement from ABC about the show’s second season prospects. Nonetheless, his side of the story does strongly suggest the show has at least not been canceled, as first speculated.
