Dana White Talks Rampage Jackson’s Next UFC Opponent, Dan Hardy Update

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson might have suffered a decisive loss to rival Rashad Evans at Saturday’s UFC 114, but there are presently no plans to remove “Rampage” from the top of the Light Heavyweight pack.

According to White, “Rampage”‘s next opponent could very well be former champion Lyoto Machida, who dominated Evans en route to a second round knockout last year. Machida recently lost the title to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and it appears he, too, is not going to receive an easy route back into the title picture.

For what it is worth, the idea for the fight, which is again far from confirmed, actually came up when reporters asked Dana White about the next possible opponent for Machida (he said, “maybe Rampage”). “Rampage” did not directly comment on the potential opponent this weekend.

— Former welterweight number one contender Dan Hardy told MMAJunkie.com that he will be fighting on the UFC 120 card in London this October. After Dustin Hazelett requested an earlier fight (UFC 117 against Rick Story) to accommodate his fall wedding, Hardy was left without a scheduled opponent, but he is indeed still booked to fight on that show.

“It’s just a shame he wasn’t available,” commented Hardy on Hazelett. “He got the hell knocked out of him, and he didn’t want a repeat performance.”
