“House” Character Leaving, “Desperate Housewives” Adds Vanessa Williams

— News broke on TVGuide Tuesday that “Ugly Betty” alum Vanessa Williams has been booked as a series regular on the next season of “Desperate Housewives.”

The character is meant to fill the persona void left by the departure of Nicollette Sheridan’s Edie.

— EW.com reports that Olivia Wilde’s Thirteen will be absent from some early episodes on the upcoming season of “House.”

“Olivia will be there at the very beginning of the season, and then she will not be there for a period of time,” Katie Jacobs told EW.

Wilde will be on temporary hiatus to film “Cowboys & Aliens.”

“House” set the stage for Wilde’s hiatus on Monday’s season finale.
