“Iron Man 2” Opens Fifth on All-Time Box Office List

“Iron Man 2” did not top “The Dark Knight”‘s record in its domestic opening weekend, but it did reach the top-end of forecasts with a dominant performance.

The anticipated sequel grossed an estimated $133.6 million this weekend, landing in fifth place on the all-time opening weekend list. The well-reviewed sequel earned an estimated $30,502 per screen in its 4,380 engagements.

Nothing else even came close this weekend, with holdover champ “A Nightmare on Elm Street” dipping more than 70% to $9.2 million for second place. “How to Train Your Dragon” was third with $6.8 million, topping “Date Night” ($5.3 million) and “The Back-Up Plan” ($4.3 million).
