“Glee” Return Scores Record Ratings; Say “Hell-O” To Megahit

FOX’s pop culture phenomenon “Glee” finally performed as a ratings powerhouse Tuesday, returning to series-highs in total viewers and adults 18-49.

Preliminary data reveals that the show posted a 5.6 demo rating with 13.6 million viewers, up significantly from last year’s pilot preview, which also aired after an “American Idol” performance show. The rating was also up immensely from the mid-season finale, which aired on a Wednesday night in the fall.

Because the show aired from 9:28PM-10:28PM, its ratings are subject to change in the final data, but it is not as if the adjustment will be significant enough to call the dominance of the show into question.

Lead-in “American Idol,” meanwhile, continued its soft ratings performance with a 7.2 and 20.2 million viewers.
