“American Idol” Eliminates One More as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato Perform

For all the criticism Wednesday’s results show roster took in the media, when it came time for Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas to perform on “American Idol,” the Disney trio was leagues better than last week’s disastrous duo (Ke$ha and Orianthi) and even superior to some of the “Idol” finalists.

But while Cyrus showed the “Idol” cast how to sell a song with a stunningly show-stopping, albeit vocally-messy take on her “When I Look at You” and while Demi Lovato found a way to show off her pipes on the poorly-written “Make a Wave” duet with Joe Jonas, the night was not about the Disney teen sensations. It was about the “American Idol” elimination.

Predictably, Paige Miles was forced to wave goodbye to the competition.

Paige earned horrific feedback for her “Against All Odds” performance Tuesday, and given her trip to the bottom two last week, it simply did not appear that a sizable portion of the “Idol” voters would get behind her. Sure enough, she pulled the lowest vote total and did not receive the “judges’ save.”

Tim Urban, whose take on “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” was also ripped by the judges, joined Paige in the bottom two, while Katie Stevens’ fairly well-reviewed “Big Girls Don’t Cry” landed her in the bottom three.

The ten remaining contestants return to the stage next Tuesday.
