Paula Abdul Not Judging “Star Search” Revival

ABC’s planned “Star Search” revival could be in jeopardy as former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul passed on an offer to judge.

THR says that the two parties were unable to come to workable financial terms on the deal.

Abdul had reportedly rejected a $5 million contract to remain on “Idol” last year, so she was unwilling to accept much in the way of a reduction for “Star Search.” ABC, however, would have a tough time justifying paying such a salary for an unproven, risky revival–a “Star Search” relaunch was already attempted from 2002-2004, and “The One,” ABC’s recent attempt at launching a talent reality show, was a colossal failure.

ABC’s interest heavily hinged on Abdul’s participation, so the status of the relaunch is now up in the air.
