Who Do Vince McMahon, WWE Stars Like On NXT?

If the rise of CM Punk did not prove that WWE has opened itself up to considering non-traditional wrestlers as WWE Superstars, backstage news regarding the NXT show certainly should.

The word going around is that Vince McMahon felt the show instantly made Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) a star. Between the promo exchange and getting to wrestle a somewhat competitive match against Chris Jericho in the main-event, Bryan had numerous opportunities to break out with the WWE audience–and officials felt it was successful.

But despite how extensively Bryan was featured on the program, some within WWE felt another name actually shined brighter. That wrestler is David Otunga, who fits a more traditional “WWE mold” than a wrestler like Bryan. While WWE officials clearly worked to build the show around the one-time American Dragon, wrestlers felt Otunga showed a great deal of promise and charisma in his limited presence on television.

For him, it is simply a matter of his in-ring ability catching up to his star quality.
