UFC News: Cain Velasquez’s Title Shot, Michael Bisping’s Reaction, George Sotiropoulos

— UFC President Dana White confirmed that Cain Velasquez’s crushing victory over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira thrusts him into title contention.

While UFC Champion Brock Lesnar’s next fight would ideally be against the winner of the UFC 111 battle between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin, if said winner is medically unable to fight Lesnar this summer, Velasquez will get the first crack.

— While Michael Bisping gave credit to Wanderlei Silva for the win, he explained at the press conference that he truly believed he was the victor.

Bisping argued that aside from the late-second-round guillotine and the final knockdown, Silva delivered little in the way of meaningful offense.

— Dana White confirmed that he was “proud” of George Sotiropoulos for dominating Joe Stevenson at UFC 110 but that Sotiropoulos still had to rack up a few more wins before qualifying for a shot at BJ Penn.
