Ke$ha Album Sales Hotter Than Expected, “Animal” To Top Charts

Thanks to stronger-than-expected sales, the debut album from red-hot pop act Ke$ha will land at number one.

“Animal,” the electro-pop singer-songwriter’s debut, moved about 150,000 units in its first week, according to preliminary chart data from Hits Daily Double. That sales count will be more than enough to give her the victory over Susan Boyle’s wildly successful holdover “I Dreamed a Dream.”

Originally pegged for 100,000 in its first week, “Animal” benefitted from Ke$ha’s dramatically-rising profile. In addition to having a smash hit number one in “TiK ToK,” singles “Blah Blah Blah” and “Your Love is My Drug” took off immediately in conjunction with the “Animal” release and are presently in the iTunes top 10.

At press time, “Blah Blah Blah,” was actually leading “TiK ToK” in sales.

Elsewhere, Katharine McPhee’s “Unbroken” failed to make a late surge and will open at about 15,000, a very disappointing–but expected–figure.
