“Glee” Album Sales to Top Chris Brown, 30 Seconds to Mars, Timbaland

As albums from Susan Boyle and Andrea Bocelli show no signs of letting up at the market (“I Dreamed a Dream” could top 500,000 again next week), projections reveal that the array of anticipated newcomers will be distantly behind on next week’s album sales chart.

“Glee: Volume 2” is tracking to lead new entries with about 120-130,000 sales, according to forecasts by Hits Daily Double. As long as the show maintains its buzz and acclaim when it returns later this spring, it appears there will be a consistently-solid level of demand for the accompanying soundtrack albums.

Chris Brown’s “Graffiti” will debut at around 100,000. Down dramatically from the opening sales figure for his previous “Exclusive” (which opened with almost 300,000), the performance is in expected territory given Brown’s many months of negative buzz and the album’s present lacking of a smash hit single.

Gucci Mane’s “The State vs. Radric Davis” will follow closely with about 90,000.

Elsewhere, 30 Seconds to Mars’ “This is War” will open between 65-75,000, narrowly beating Jimmy Buffett’s “Buffet Hotel” (60-70,000). Snoop Dogg’s “Malice N Wonderland” will follow with about 60,000.

BG’s “Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood” should rack up about 40-50,000 sales in its first week.

The week’s true bomb comes with Timbaland’s “Shock Value II.” Tracking for just 35-45,000 despite its lineup of all-star mainstream pop guests, the album once again proves that Timbaland’s recognition does not directly translate into sales (“Shock Value” opened to just 138,000 behind a major hit single in “Give it To Me” and non-stop publicity for the man behind megahits from Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado).

Clipse’s “Til the Casket Drops” will do 30-35,000.

  1. Chris Brown = fail! I bet his album comes in at no more than 85K and I will be smiling my butt off. No one should beat the crap out of the gf and then make millions off of a record not even a year later!

  2. Chris is so arrogant, and his camp on twitter has done nothing but bash Rihanna, he needs to flop and learn some lessons about intregrity and respect. Rihanna is album is on a normal pace…Chris is the one flopping.

  3. Sorry Tina but when an album is going for 99cents before it is released to the public that is a good sign of an epic failure and not at all a normal pace. Unless she ups her talent and performance ability I give it another year before Jay Z silently drops Rihanna altogether. Maybe she could try another drama though because god knows she’d be a has been if not for the Chris Brown drama.

  4. Look Chris Brown is a Kid! And we all fall short of the glory of God Im not perfect nor you. Give this Kid a chance them both. They have both bad mouth each other. But more her then him. Im not saying what he did is right. But his job and talent should not be taken from him for a problem he working on. I believe this boy is truly sorry for his actions that night. I brought the album and it was very nicely done on other hand hers not so much. Maybe she should have focused on her self not throwing Chris under a bridge and lying. Because each time I saw him he was never negative of her but took responsibility for hi action. That came from him not twitter. I could see if he had a history like Terrance Howard and other hollywood stars. He’s a kid who feel by something he saw as a kid who getting help grow up and realize we all make mistakes even serious ones. Maybe Chris can help others to break this cycle as he states he’s doing.

  5. @Vinsha

Chris Brown is NOT a kid you loon…he’s damn near 21 years old, he can drink a beer, smoke a cigarette, and die for our country so he’s old enough to know not to hit a woman

  6. Chris Brown album is going to do fine. For you ignorant fools he have a problem with him that’s your problem i’m going to purchase his album today.

  7. I’m glad Brown’s album is failing. After what he did he deserves to realize the consequences of his actions. People can support this beater all they want, the fact is he’s lost a lot of fans because of what he did to Rihanna, and rightly so.

  8. Okay being that i’m a woman I don’t agree with the fact that Chris Brown put his hands on any woman. But the face that I’ve seen worse people bounce back from their scandals. MICHAEL JACKSON AND R. KELLY BEING EXAMPLE AND HELL THEY BOTH LIKED CHILDREN! So if theses men can bounce back and have great careers I believe Chris Brown who has lots of talent will do just fine! I have listened to both albums Rihanna and Chris Brown. And i’m sorry vocally Chris is killing her!! I just wish people would let their music speak and not stay out their personal lives!!

  9. For all the people that said his album tanked, that is all not true. 50 cent came in atleast 140,00 copies that was low. Rihanna did the same as 50 cent so Chris Brown with this is doing good, so no sweat with that. Chris Brown must realize that this album was not going to do as well as his others for this. He will be OK and so would Rihanna, with her debut at no. 4 and not no. 3 like Chris Brown.

  10. Look i love Chris Brown and Rihanna. I in no way justfy what he did to her, but i think he really is sorry for what he did and needs another chance. Neither one of them has lost me as a fan and i plan of getting both of their albums for x-mas. And to be honest, he can sing so much better then her and if it wasn’t for all that drama he would’ve been at the top of the charts, but like i said, he is wrong for what he did and i don’t plan on going to his concerts again, but i do plan on still listening to him, cause deep down he’s a nice boy and needs a second chance….
