“Biggest Loser” Scores Monster Finale Rating, “90210,” “Melrose Place” Drop

Neither the Winter Wonderland theme nor the storyline involving Jasper pushing Navid down the stairs captivated “90210” viewers, as the show posted a poor 1.0 adults 18-49 rating with just 1.9 million viewers Tuesday night.

Down more than 13% from last week’s soft showing (against no scripted competition), “90210” hit dangerous territory this week. Leadout “Melrose Place” also dipped, returning to its 0.7 rating, 1.3 million viewer bottom despite the continued presence of Heather Locklear.

The news was not bad for all series. NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” finale posted a healthy 5.0 rating with 13.5 million viewers. The highest-rated “Loser” in four years, the finale also produced a huge spike for “The Jay Leno Show,” which rose to a strong 2.9 with 8.4 million viewers.

ABC’s “Better off Ted,” one of the year’s “how in the world did this earn a renewal” series, kicked off its season with just 3.8 million viewers and a 1.5 rating. “Scrubs” led into the half-hour with a 2.3 rating and 5.4 million viewers. “The Forgotten” disappointed at 10PM with 4.3 million viewers and a 1.3.

FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” earned a 2.4 rating with 6.2 million watchers.

  1. MELROSE PLACE is the best show on TV – and yesterday’s episode was it’s best yet – I don’t understand why people aren’t watching. Give the show a chance! It gets better with every episode!

  2. I agree with John. Melrose Place is fantastic! And last night’s episode was spectacular. I also don’t understand why the show isn’t rating because it truly is one of the best shows on television. Why are people so obsessed with mind numbing reality programmes like Biggest Loser, Idol and Dancing With The Stars? People need to forget about shows like that and get back to some good ol’ guilty pleasures like Melrose Place because it really does keep getting better and better each week.

  3. i agree episode 12 of melrose place was awesome….i couldn’t stop wtching it for asecond two murders in one pool violet being the murderer amanda turning out to be a major criminal sydney being her accomplice WOW…sex drugs break ups murder..it’s super fun…i really hope it doesn’t get cancelled

  4. whats wrong with people? 90210 is absolutely amazing show. Specially this season. I hope 90210 does not get canceled.

  5. 90210 and Melrose Place are two of the best shows on TV right now. What I have been finding out, the big problem with the ratings, is that they are highly dvr’d shows. Most of the people I know dvr them and watch them on the weekends. Sometimes I have to work, but as soon as I get home, I go to a website and have to watch both of them before I go to bed. I know many people that watch them, so the ratings never make sense to me. They deserve much more attention than they are getting!
