“Gossip Girl” Ratings Soft Against Repeats But Strong With Women

Those wondering why “Gossip Girl” is able to post terrible household and adults 18-49 ratings but avoid even the slightest conversation about losing its spot on The CW’s roster got an answer in the demographic ratings this week.

Despite going against CBS repeats and an ABC lineup without the “Dancing With the Stars” boost, the Thanksgiving-themed “Gossip Girl” posted a mere 1.1 adults 18-49 rating with 2.3 million viewers. But for as bad as that news was, the show performed well in The CW’s target young female demographics: it won its time period in women 18-34 (2.9/7) and women 12-34 (2.7/7).

Lead-in “One Tree Hill” did narrowly better in the broad categories, posting a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating with 2.4 million viewers.

Elsewhere, the second installment of “Find My Family” tanked without help from “Dancing,” falling more than 20% to a 2.3 demo rating with 7.9 million viewers. FOX’s “House” won the night overall with 13.2 million viewers and a 4.8 rating; “Gossip” was the night’s worst performer.
