Susan Boyle Dominates Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Rihanna (Album Sales)

Unlikely “Britain’s Got Talent” breakout Susan Boyle is making her presence felt in America, as early album sales projections from Hits Daily Double have Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” debuting to first week sales of at least 600,000.

The projections, an extension of Hits Daily Double’s sales reports from Tuesday, could even prove low if Boyle’s album performs unexpectedly well with Black Friday shoppers. In any event, Boyle will undoubtedly top the Billboard 200 album sales chart in a week that featured new releases from superstars like Adam Lambert, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

“American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert is tracking for second place among new releases; pacing for 210-230,000 first week sales, Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” will more than double the debut album sales performance of “Idol” winner Kris Allen.

Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Monster” EP will do around 180-200,000; the new deluxe release, which adds the “Monster” songs to the dance/pop sensation’s debut “The Fame,” could move an additional 130-150,000 copies.

“Rated R,” the well-reviewed, buzzworthy new release from Rihanna, will open with 180-200,000; though hardly a poor figure, the total is somewhat underwhelming given Rihanna’s level of popularity and proven ability to generate radio hit after radio hit. Predecessor “Good Girl Gone Bad” opened just shy of 170,000 copies, and Rihanna’s celebrity and portfolio of chart-toppers has grown exponentially in the meantime.

Shakira’s “She Wolf” is tracking for 80-90,000, while Jay Sean’s “All or Nothing” and Birdman’s “Pricele$$” are pacing in the 30-35,000 territory.

  1. A little surprised, but fine w it. I like some of her tracks, and I love Lambert, Lady Gaga, and Shakira sings just like my Italian grandmother in Italy, sooooo- they get my mula and I get the pleasure.

  2. HAHAHAHAHA Rhianna. The media kissed her butt, bowed, and catered to her and she FAILS big time. She is and always been a boring performer, fake, and her music bits.

  3. Sit and listen to this album of Susan’s just once and you’ll know why it’s selling like hot-cakes. It is enough to make one believe in angels. God bless her!

  4. Susan is selling because older people don’t steal music. The fans of Rihanna and Gaga and Lambert all could have gotten their CD’s for free earlier this week online.

  5. Susan Boyle doesn’t have an original song on her CD. She is singing music that has a broad appeal, and some of it is seasonal. All of the songs sound alike. She has a nice voice. She took no risks with this release.

Pop musicians are competing amongst each other, and they have to take risks. they have to diversify their music. It is apples and oranges between a singer that would appeal to an older audience and a pop musician. Who recently released an album that is competition for Susan Boyle?

  6. i will definitly not be buying CaCa’s fame monster, her face freaks me out. and her voice sucks, all her songs sound the same , with same beats and whatever, CAN YOU SAY BORING!

  7. @BLAH i agree with you , i will not be buying LADY GAGA’s “TFM” sick of hearing the same shit already! i love susan, rihanna, and adam. LADY GAGA is SOO BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i used to be a fan but i got SOO bored of her. “mumm mumm ma” “gaga o la la” so shitty. she’s an ugly girl/boy

  8. I used to “think” I didn’t like Lady GaGa, but that was before I REALLY listened to her music. I liked her performance on the AMAs so I watched the video-I think it’s called “I want your Love” It was actually a really good video. She’s different and puts on a show that makes you think. Her range and tones in her voice are amazing. She can sound like Amy Winehouse to Madonna in the same song. I think she and Adam should go on tour together. They would be a perfect pair. Love every song on Adam’s cd and will buy GaGa’s too. I’m glad she doesn’t stand there with a microphone and just sing. I’m all about entertainment and I love artists that go the extra mile for us!!!

  9. haha, I love all the lady gaga haters.
its’ fine, your haters are your biggest fans, always remember that 😉

  10. i bought adams and rihanna’s! soo GREAT.

i love ADAMS ITS SOO GOOD i listen to it everyday NOW XD 😀

i love how rihanna’s songs always sound different in her albums! unlike boring CaCa

    didn’t buy suzan’s or gaga’s . hehe

  11. We know Susan Boyle released her cd out here in the U.S. but does anybody know if Adam Lamberts cd was released outside of the U.S? It would sure make a big difference in sales if they were both released outside of their homeland.

    • These sales projections are for US retailers, so Susan sold at least 600,000 (660k is the latest I’m hearing) in America alone–that does not include what she did in the UK and other European countries.

  12. YES SHE IS BACK AFTER GAYBROWN ASSAULTED HER, and her album is so good, i do have to say her last album “good girl Gone bad” is her best so far.. but i do love “Rated R” she has grown with her vocals so don’t hate on her. I love Gaga not so sure about the 2nd runner up on american idol his voice irritates me. but good luck to all

  13. Amazing blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any recommendations? Thank you!
