– THR reports that USA granted a fifth season order to comedy series “Psych.” The well-received series, which posts solid demographic numbers for the cable network, is expected to return for the rest of its fourth season in the first quarter of 2010. The fifth season order adds sixteen episodes to the count.

– Production on ABC’s “FlashForward” has been halted for six days, although contrary to speculation, there is no indication that it has anything to do with the show’s recent ratings performance.

“They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so,” a source told THR, noting that the hiatus was a planned part of the production schedule.

“FlashForward,” which debuted to solid numbers in September, has seen its ratings steadily decline. Thursday’s airing hit a series low.
