Vince McMahon Talks Shane’s Resignation, Role of His Family

For the most part, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s conference call with investors adhered to the standard format. He talked about the company’s success, addressed the idea of a WWE television network and talked about plans to make the Films division more viable.

But as the build-up to this conference included son Shane McMahon’s sudden resignation from his post as EVP of Global Media, it was inevitable that McMahon would address the situation.

According to a PWTorch.com transcript, McMahon said of Shane’s decision to leave: “Shane has decided to pursue other opportunities in the marketplace.”

He also added that performance, not last name, matters most in maintaining the strength of the management team.

“Some people perceive this to be a family business, but I do not,” said McMahon.
