According to a new WWE.com report, upcoming WWE Films project “Knucklehead” is indeed receiving a theatrical release.

As WWE had confirmed plans to scale back theatrical offerings due to poor performances for films like “The Condemned” and “12 Rounds,” many assumed “Knucklehead” would be limited to a DVD release. But the WWE.com report says it hits theatres in the spring of 2010.

The film, which stars Big Show as “a naïve giant and church orphan-turned-amateur fighter” who fights to raise money for a good cause. Mark Feuerstein (“Royal Pains”) and Melora Hardin (“The Office”) round out a cast that includes Dennis Farina, Rebecca Creskoff, Wendie Malick, Will Patton, Saul Rubinek and Bobb’e J Thompson.

Directed by Michael W. Watkins, principal photography ends this week.
