Story On WWE’s Major Change To Bragging Rights Card

*The following story contains a spoiler regarding a development at this week’s SmackDown! taping. While the report keeps specific details from the show out, it does nonetheless feature the most important part–the reveal regarding a change to the Bragging Rights card–and should thus not be read by those hoping to watch SmackDown! without prior knowledge.

In what will end up airing as a last minute change to the card this Friday, WWE replaced the bulk of Team SmackDown! for the big 14 man tag match at WWE Bragging Rights. While Team RAW will remain the same, Team SmackDown! will now feature Chris Jericho, Kane, Matt Hardy, the Hart Dynasty, R-Truth and Finlay.

As many would have guessed, the change was made Tuesday afternoon purely due to Vince McMahon’s belief that the original team, which featured Jericho, Kane, Cryme Tyme, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar, looked too weak to realistically compete with the RAW Superstars.

Proof of how late the change was made (and it literally came at a production meeting the day of the SmackDown! taping), is obvious–the final segment on this week’s RAW featured a hard sell for the Bragging Rights tag match with the original RAW and SmackDown! teams brawling in the ring.

  1. now i have a feeling team smackdown is going to win, is it just me? i don’t think it is but i want team raw to win! team smackdown seemed very weak thats for sure, they could have won with dolf caniving ways for sure though

  2. im glad the change happened now it seems that it could be and interesting match not to take anything away from the people who where removed but drew mcintire and the eric dude have little to no experience in ppv matches

  3. If Randy Orton beats John Cena at bragging rites and Cena is off RAW…I won’t watch RAW anymore…..And all my friends said the same thing….

  4. Cena will WIN the iron man match for the title–for the W.W.E.Universe–and for RAW!!! When you think of RAW, you think of JOHN CENA! As far as the NEW “Team SD”, they’ve got a better chance now with their newly formed team–the sides’ll be more balanced. RAW’s gonna put on quite a ‘SHOW’ while they ‘PLAY THE GAME’!!Needless to say, RAW will come out on top. *Morrison wins,’Taker retaines belt*

  5. interesting to see 3 young heels replaced with 3 older faces… are they not convinced that the 3 youngsters are ready to be a part of the main event mix?

stars of the future? not if they arent given the chance to shine on a grand stage…

  6. I’m very excited to see the change in the smackdown team. I will be @ the PPV!! and prior to smackdown on friday i was completely disappointed with the smackdown team. And my prediction for the cena/orton match: cena will win. with this being a no dq match, and with the hype they’ve been putting on dibiase/orton, i see ted being the deciding factor in ortons title loss.

  7. They should’ve used shelton benjamin (bring him back to smackdown!) if they really wanted to make it competitive. We all can agree that he’s been long overdue for a main event spot!
