Despite Ratings Drop, “Family Guy” Still Top Show

A double-digit percentage ratings drop for FOX’s animated hit “Family Guy” did not prevent the cartoon from winning the night among scripted programs in the adults 18-49 demo.

Down 12% from last week, “Guy,” with 8.9 million viewers and a 4.5 in the demo, still outpaced all series Sunday night. Among all broadcasts, it was second only to the Colts-Titans game on NBC (13.8 million, 5.5).

The rest of FOX’s comedy lineup was also down, with “The Simpsons” (7.5 million, 3.6) and “The Cleveland Show” (7.8 million, 3.8) dropping by 18% and 14%, respectively. “American Dad” fell 6% to a 3.4 demo rating with 6.7 million viewers.

ABC’s lineup was soft–“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” fell to 9.8 million viewers and a 3.0, while “Desperate Housewives” garnered 13.1 million viewers and a 4.4. “Brothers & Sisters” closed the alphabet’s night with 9 million viewers and a 2.9.

Over on CBS, “The Amazing Race” was solid with 10.8 million viewers and a 3.1. Though it did not uptick from its soft debut, “Three Rivers” nonetheless retained its audience, landing with 7.7 million viewers and a 1.9. “Cold Case” wrapped things up with a 1.7 rating and 7.2 million viewers.

  1. I’m surprised Desperate Housewives still has that many viewers. It’s plot lines have become kind of boring the past couple seasons. I don’t even bother tuning in most of the time anymore, especially since they killed off Edie.
