Paramore Could Top Mariah Carey, Breaking Benjamin, Alice in Chains (Album Sales)

It is predictably shaping up to be one of the tightest album sales races in recent memory, but after one day of tabulation, Paramore’s “Brand New Eyes” is pacing to top next week’s charts.

According to Hits Daily Double projections, the third studio from the rock group is on pace for 180-190,000 sales in its first week. As of right now, that gives the Paramore album a slight edge over Mariah Carey’s “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” (160-170,000).

Of course, given the fact that Paramore’s fanbase consists of motivated teen and young adult album buyers, there is a possibility that “Brand New Eyes” benefited from particularly heavy first day purchases and will cool off by week’s end. So no one is yet willing to call the week for the Hayley Williams-fronted band–regardless, however, it will be a great opening frame for Paramore.

Other notable debuts this week: Barbra Streisand’s “Love is the Answer” (projected for 150-160,000), Breaking Benjamin’s “Dear Agony” (140-150,000), Alice in Chains’ “Black Gives Way to Blue” (130-140,000) and Miranda Lambert’s “Revolution” (65-75,000).

Also debuting: AFI’s “Crash Love” (60-70,000), Selena Gomez & The Scene’s “Kiss and Tell” (50-60,000) and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “God and Guns” (30-40,000).

  1. On mariah creay…..This kind of sucks, compared to any of her other albums.Let’s get honest…I’ve seen better. its like a newer version of charmbracket…..

  2. Paramore all the way. Mariah Carey sucks, and this is Paramore’s best album yet. Love them so much.

  3. what’s the big deal ? so they sold more than mariah . and? does it really matter cause their both getting paid . Truthfully we all know 10 yrs from now out of the two of them what name are u going to remeber! yeah thought so! come the eff on peopl!!

  4. If you think this album sucks, you seriously need your music tastebuds checked. This is an amazingly solid and wonderful CD, and (I agree with other poster) one of her best since Butterfly. I’m amazed at how people try to discredit an artist who’s been around for 20 years, had the most #1 singles of anyone, except the Beatles, writes her own music and has such an incredible vocal range. Paramore appeals to teenyboppers, and to quote cocotnm, no one will even remember them by the end of the decade. Unlike the Mariah haters, I don’t wish ill towards Paramour -I hope they continue to be successful. It’s a hard business, especially when people without an ounce of musical/singing talent/ability are so quick to say that a proven artist “sucks”.
Come to think of it, who else but a little kid when even use that word to describe anything?

  5. You are stupid. So what if Mariah Carey has been out longer than Paramore? Who’s to say Paramore won’t still be around in 10 years?

Mariah is overrated. It’s good to see some new blood score high on the music charts… oh yeah… and someone that actually puts out good music.

  6. Memoirs of an imperfect angel is an amazing album point blank! It doesn’t matter how many records she sell her first week because she is going to continue to sell even more! This band you guys speak of”who are they again?” Right! Mariah is a living legend and the fact that she is stil making hits and her music is still being anticipated by fans and naysayers! Illustrates just how fierce she really is! You go Mimi! Love the album girl!

  7. Paramore totally kicks ass! Their new album is their best work yet!! I love Brand New Eyes! HAHAHAHAHA The rest of these bands/people should be ashamed they thought they could compete!

  8. I have bought “Memoirs” yesterday (Mariah Day)- I think its brilliant! seriously better than her previous releases- Mariah placed 100% effort and her voice is amazing…fav tracks “Obsessed”-“I want To Know What Love Is” ,”HATEU”,”Up Out Of My Face”, “Ribbon” “Standing O” is also fun! truly soulful and R&B feel to it- uw ill not regret!
