UFC News: Anderson Silva’s Next Title Fight Revealed

In a taped segment this summer, UFC President Dana White teased Vitor Belfort as a strong candidate for Anderson Silva’s Middleweight Championship even though Belfort was not under contract with the UFC.

Interestingly, when UFC was able to acquire the talented fighter, it did not rush the Belfort vs. Silva fight, instead putting “The Phenom” in the Octagon with Rich Franklin.

Coming off a dominant TKO victory over Franklin, Belfort appears in line to finally get his Middleweight title shot. UFC sources reportedly told the LA Times that the Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort championship match is slated for January 2, 2010.

The two fighters have reportedly offers verbal agreements over the date; contracts remain to be signed.
