Even though “Glee” lost some of its viewership in its second week of regular timeslot broadcast, the show is hitting its tune well enough for FOX. The network granted a full season pickup to the musical-themed dramedy.

An exceptionally-reviewed show, “Glee,” by virtue of its oddball writing and quirky performances, has all the makings of a cult hit. Sure enough, FOX President Kevin Reilly is confident in the show’s creative direction.

“The response we’ve received to ‘Glee’ has been remarkable,” said Reilly. “It’s already got the makings of a cultural phenomenon. I’ve seen all 13 episodes, and Ryan Murphy, his team and the talented ‘Glee’ cast have knocked our socks off with their incredible work. We’re happy to pick up this gem of a show, and can’t wait to see what they’ll do with the rest of the season.”

The full season adds a back nine episode order to the original thirteen. The next “Glee” airs this Wednesday at 9PM.
