“Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” Wins Box Office Over “Jennifer’s Body,” “Informant!”

Building on its Friday victory, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” held onto its momentum for a dominant weekend box office victory.

The film grossed an estimated $30.1 million this weekend and thus found itself in a very private position atop the box office heap. New release “The Informant!” was closest behind with $10.5 million.

“Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad all by Myself,” last week’s winner, fell to third with $10.1 million, a decline of 57.1% from last week’s debut. Despite the big drop, it still found itself positioned higher than two high-profile new releases.

“Love Happens,” the latest Jennifer Aniston starrer, posted a disappointing $8.5 million in its debut outing. Even worse was the tab for Megan Fox’s “Jennifer’s Body.” With just $6.8 million in first weekend receipts, it is clear that audiences needed more than the promise of Megan Fox in skimpy clothing and in bed with Amanda Seyfried to dish out $10 for a ticket.

Weekend Top Ten:
1) Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – $30.1 million
2) The Informant! – $10.5 million
3) I Can Do Bad All By Myself – $10.1 million ($37.9 million)
