Why Was Eugene Released?, More Summerslam News

— The word going around is that Eugene’s WWE release stems almost entirely from his appearance on last Monday’s RAW. Looking noticeably heavier and less physically fit than when he was last seen on WWE TV, Eugene, according to sources, made a bad first impression, leading Vince McMahon to call for the release.

Originally brought back to work with younger wrestlers, Nick “Eugene” Dinsmore was quickly called back to television with his old “simpleton” gimmick. Given that WWE wanted Eugene on television, the fact that he did not look in shape proved to be a deal breaker.

— With Summerslam in Los Angeles, sources anticipate a number of celebrities attending the event. WWE wants Shaquille O’Neal to interfere in the Chris Jericho/Big Show vs. Cryme Tyme match, but whether or not that happens largely hinges on WWE’s ability to secure O’Neal for a future RAW telecast.

  1. Your the simpleton, Mr. Cantor. Eugene was brought back in July. If Vince McMahon thought he (Eugene) was out of shape he would have done something then. Also, Wrestlers who lose “a pink slip or contract” on a pole match are NOT REALLY fired or released. it’s just a Kayfabe way to get a wrestler some time off for surgery or a deserved vacation. In Eugene’s (Nick Dinsmore’s) case he was released under the “Eugene” gimmick. Dinsmore himself will return as a different character, hopefully as himself in the near future.

  2. So they couldn’t have put him on Superstars or ECW!They couldn’t see how good of shape he was in before they put him on TV?Just another dumb move!

  3. WWE should bring back Dinsmore as the Eugene-character. After a couple of months, Randy Orton should kick him in the scull (like he do from time to time), only this time, Eugene will not suffer a concussion. But he’s personality will change, and he will become a full blown heel. That could open up for an Eric Bischoff-return as Eugene’s manager. At a later point, Eugene will get knocked out, and become good again to his uncle’s (Bischoffs) frustrations. An alternative storyline could simply be a tagteam consisting of Eugene and Festus. It could be known as “The Nutheads” or “The Special Ones”… or something completely different.
