Album Sales: George Strait Dominates; Cobra Starship, Jessie James, Slaughterhouse Follow

There is no question about which record will lead the album sales chart for this week–George Strait’s “Twang” will land in first thanks to debut week sales of about 150,000, according to Hits Daily Double projections.

“Twang” will remove Michael Jackson’s “Number Ones” album from the top sales spot, although Jackson records will still have a presence near the top of the sales rankings.

Cobra Starship’s “Hot Mess,” the next best new release album, is a lock for the top ten with sales figures in the 40-45,000 range. The Decaydance act hits a new high thanks to the breakout success of single “Good Girls Go Bad (featuring Leighton Meester)”–previous album “Viva la Cobra” peaked at number 80 on the Billboard 200.

Justin Moore’s self-titled debut will narrowly trail with figures in the 34-37,000 range, while the self-titled cut from Slaughterhouse should be good for 23-25,000.

Unable to score big with lead single “Wanted,” the self-titled debut from Jessie James will settle for 18-20,000. “Beggars,” an iTunes exclusive from Thrice, will debut just under 15,000.
