– In an interview with Entertainment Weekly following the announcement that “How I Met Your Mother” was nominated for the best comedy series Emmy, creator and executive producer Craig Thomas noted that one season five story arc includes a sequence that plays out “like a horror movie.”

“We ended the season with Ted teaching at Columbia University–literally in the same room as the mother. So that has added a great suspense element in the writing. We’ve gotten some great material out of that, including a whole story that plays almost like a horror movie. Suspenseful ominous music is playing and at any point Ted can round a corner and run into the mother,” said Thomas.

Fellow creator Carter Bays added that the Barney-Robin romance will get much more play in season five now that the characters have begun to confront their feelings.

– EW reports that one of the male “Gossip Girl” characters will end up dropping out of college early in the third season.

– THR reports that Sarah Carter has been cast as a secret-keeping clean-up technician on “CSI: New York.” The “Shark” actress joins the show as a regular.

– “Lost” creator Carlton Cuse told TVGuide.com that the crew was surprised to receive a drama series nomination for the fifth season.

“We are very happy, and we are kind of shocked,” said Cuse. “Doing the time travel-heavy genre, we did not have any expectations that we would get nominated.”

The latest supporting actor nomination for star Michael Emerson did not, however, surprise anyone at the show.
