FOX Re-Casting New Sitcom – Online

FOX sent word to reporters this week that is recasting two roles on upcoming comedy “Sons of Tucson,” and it is going to the Internet to find its new stars.

The show, which features three brothers who hire a charming, yet lazy and unaccomplished hustler (“Reaper” star Tyler Labine) to pose as their father figure while their real parent spends time in prison, was picked up for a midseason bow. In preliminary pilot screening, Headline Planet recognized the potential in the show’s concept (it should appeal to the “Malcom in the Middle” crowd) but ultimately found the sitcom to be lacking a key ingredient–humor. This is nonetheless the season of new comedy attempts, and FOX believes it has an opening for a youth-centric family half hour.

The network plans to recast two roles–Robby, the youngest brother, and Brandon, the oldest. For now, it appears FOX is content with Frank Dolce’s performance as middle brother Gary.

Davis Cleveland and Troy Gentile previously filled the roles. Casting descriptions follow:

Robby (8 years old) is the youngest Gunderson sibling. He’s an impish and impulsive grade-schooler who needs Ron to bail him out when he accidently starts a fire at the back-to-school fair. It’s partially for this reason that the Gundersons hire Ron full-time to pose as their dad.

Brandon (13-15 years old) is the oldest of the Gunderson boys. He views life and the family’s current situation through a somewhat warped lens. Energetic and upbeat, his eccentricity is charming at times, but his efforts to help his brothers often land them in hot water. He possesses terrific self confidence that is completely unearned.

Details on the casting process, which includes submitting audition videos, are available here.
