Rematch of Heated UFC Fight Confirmed

Strikeforce confirmed that its anticipated “Carano vs. Cyborg” event will feature a rematch between two former UFC fighters.

Now official for the show is a bout between Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs to determine the Strikeforce Welterweight Champion. Diaz has become the promotion’s star with dominant victories over Frank Shamrock and Scott Smith, while Riggs is coming off two consecutive Strikeforce victories.

The two last fought at the UFC 57 card in 2006. Riggs pulled out the unanimous decision, but the fight did not end in the Octagon–reports emerged that the two had a heated confrontation at the hospital following the event.

Diaz-Riggs brings a fourth title fight to the event. Gina Carano vs. Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos is for the women’s title, while Josh Thomson and Gilbert Melendez square off for lightweight gold and Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum battle for the heavyweight prize.
