All indications are that Jeff Hardy still remains contractually uncommitted to a future in WWE.
While no one anticipates Hardy leaving for a rival group, it remains interesting that the wrestler WWE officials reportedly view, according to the Wrestling Observer, as the “most popular” babyface in the company is main-eventing WWE pay-per-views without a long-term commitment to the company.
According to wrestling gossip website The Sun, Hardy told Spain’s Cuatro Network that he is hesitant to seal his long-term fate even while knowing he has as much as a decade left in the ring.
“I don’t know – I am 31 years old now and I don’t like making plans for the future. I can wrestle until I am 40 but I don’t want to make plans, I don’t like thinking about what could happen between now and the next five years,” said Hardy.
The expectation from most industry sources is that Hardy will ultimately sign, presumably contingent on some sort of hiatus at the end of the summer.
It’s incredible to see how Jeff Hardy has moved from being a one man Hardy Boyz team to an improved wrestler whose amazing popularity has helped elevate the WWE’s ratings, for eventaully Jeff will sign a new contract(even if it’s a short term one)just to keep his success going(as well as continue his current feud with [fellow improved wrestler])C.M. Punk).
Absolutely – I’m not his biggest fan, but the rapport he has with WWE’s audience is undeniable. I only wish WWE’s writers would get out of CM Punk’s way on the promos; while his in-ring work has always been good, it was his promo ability that really made him a standout on the indy scene. I was there live when he gave the “Devil” speech after swerving the audience to win the ROH Championship, and he made it so obvious he was going to be a star in this business. I just really haven’t seen that part of him in the WWE run, and I really think better promos could make his feud with Jeff Hardy a classic one.
