– Roddy Piper’s DUI arrest has garnered notable media coverage from pro wrestling sources and celebrity gossip sites, but it was not the WWE Hall of Famer’s only presence in the mainstream media Thursday. An MTV interview with Charlie Day of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” hypes an upcoming Roddy Piper appearance as a highlight of the FX comedy’s upcoming season.

“One of my favorite scripts right now is an episode called ‘The Gang Wrestles for the Troops,’” said Day. “In our attempt to honor the troops coming back from Iraq, we try and put on a wrestling match and ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper is appearing in that. He’s playing a down on his luck wrestler called Da Maniac.”

– As part of its website hype for the new ECW talent, WWE.com also acknowledges Tiffany’s recent “promotion” to full-time GM for the ECW brand (she had previously been the interim general manager). The hype is interesting, given a report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Tiffany is considered a frontrunner to replace Lilian Garcia because of the “realization that she is not cut out for the role she is in.”
