Backstage News: CM Punk’s Future, Edge’s Status, Vickie

— In an update to the CM Punk situation, the latest word is that WWE has not officially committed to the heel turn. Though the turn does seem inevitable, the final decision will be a product of fan reaction to Punk in his upcoming pay-per-view match with Jeff Hardy, given that WWE sees Hardy as the audience’s most beloved babyface.

— Numerous WWE wrestlers and employees approached Vickie Guerrero after her final angle on last week’s RAW to congratulate her on succeeding in her television role. Though Guerrero herself was reportedly fine with the send-off, a number of WWE workers thought it was in bad taste. Whether or not there is a connection is unclear, but in recapping the angle this week on RAW, WWE did not show any of the Edge insult footage.

— On the subject of Edge, sources say he was given this past weekend off to rest his body from the constant wear-and-tear. Edge has consistently worked aggressive matches for WWE with little downtime, and sources say he might be a candidate for a reduced road schedule in the near future.
