Chris Masters, who was released by WWE after a newsworthy stint that included Wellness Policy violations and an infamous comment from Triple H about his dramatic change in physique, is on his way back to WWE.

Reports say the wrestler has cancelled upcoming independent bookings in order to prepare for an “imminent” return to World Wrestling Entertainment. According to PWInsider, who first reported the story, Masters struck the deal to return after a meeting with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon at last week’s television tapings.

The specifics of Masters’ return, including the date and brand on which he will make his first comeback WWE appearance, have not yet been disclosed. It also remains to be seen if Masters’ prior Wellness violations will continue to count as strikes going forward (the alternative being a clean slate given to wrestlers who returned from a prior release).
