“Party Down” Gets Second Season Renewal

“Party Down,” the little-known but very well-liked original comedy on Starz, has received a ten episode order for a second season.

From creator Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars”), the series focuses on a combination of Hollywood has-beens and hopefuls working for a party catering company.

The half-hour sitcom stars Ken Marino, Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Ryan Hansen, Martin Starr and Jane Lynch. Of the six leads, Lynch is the only one not confirmed for season two?she is presently committed to FOX’s new fall series “Glee.” Nonetheless, Variety says that Starz hopes to keep her on board in some capacity.

The ten-episode second season will go into production later this summer with an expected airdate in early 2010.

Thomas, John Enbom, Paul Rudd and Dan Etheridge executive produce the series, while Fred Savage and Bryan Gordon have served as directors and supervising producers. All will continue in their roles for season two.
