American Idol 8: The Top 5 is Revealed

A predictable “American Idol” results show left Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai out of this year’s top five.

Rounds, who sang “I’m Every Woman” and Desai, who offered “Dim All the Lights,” both failed to gain unanimous approval from the judging panel and had been regulars in the bottom three. Sure enough, the two were forced to wave goodbye this week.

While the eliminations were not surprising, what did shock some viewers was Allison Iraheta’s presence in the bottom three. Iraheta has been there before and has thus demonstrated a failure to develop a passionate fanbase, but she has recently become a judge favorite and thus appeared to be gaining momentum. America, nonetheless, found her to be the least impressive of the remaining five contestants.

The top five–Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Matt Giraud–perform jazz songs next week.
