American Idol 8: Another Week, Another Elimination

Scott MacIntyre, whose near total blindness made him an early and inspirational fan favorite, is no longer in the “American Idol” running. He was eliminated this week.

MacIntyre had survived poorly-received performances before, but his “The Search is Over,” which did not earn strong marks, finally brought his “Idol” journey to an end. He departs as the competition’s eighth place finisher, joining past contestants like Nadia Turner, Bucky Covington, Haley Scarnato and Michael Johns.

Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds joined MacIntyre in the bottom three.

The seven remaining contestants return to the stage next Tuesday.
